The City of South Portland (the “City”) is seeking proposals from qualified firms/consultants to develop a package of climate resilience zoning amendments for integration into the City’s land use code. This work will build from the climate resiliency framework and recommendations included in the City’s climate action plan, One Climate Future. It will include the development of a coastal climate resilience overlay zone and associated zoning standards to address increasing climate-related risks due to sea level rise, storm surge, flooding, and high heat citywide. A successful proposal will be expected to leverage local hydrodynamic inundation modeling data and include a robust deliberative community engagement process in order to develop land use policy recommendations. This work will also include research, policy drafting, architectural renderings, and a formal review and adoption process through the Planning Board and City Council.
