Specifications include, but are not limited to: Lawn Maintenance: The work consists of mowing in the Maine Business Enterprise Park and at properties on Cleveland St. and Maine and Florida Avenues in Bangor. The work encompasses mowing and trimming approximately 44.2 total acres (see Attachment #1) removing all trash, fallen tree limbs, accumulated winter sand and any other impediments to mowing. Grass clippings will be removed from walkways, parking areas and flower bids.; Mowing and trimming will be required weekly in the areas requiring mowing to 3.5 inches and biweekly (every other week) in those areas requiring mowing to 7 inches. For the current year, work will begin after contract signing with the awarded Proposer, and in following years the mowing season will be twenty-two (22) weeks beginning May 9th and terminating September 30th. The Contract Administrator may adjust the schedule.; The total area to be maintained extends from Maine Avenue on the North to Hammond Street on the southern border. Please refer to the attached map (see Attachment #1). Within that total area the following areas are to be mowed and trimmed weekly and maintained at 3.5 inches: A. Area around building at 39 Florida Avenue; B. Area around building at 49 Florida Avenue; C. Median sign islands on Corporate Drive, Northeast Drive and Maine Ave.; Landscaping: The work consists of the following landscaping services at 39 and 49 Florida Avenue: A. Spring Landscaping and Summer Preparation (Once upon contract signing with the awarded Proposer, and in following years by April 15, depending upon snow cover): a. Deep edge cut all grass edges and borders; b. Weed, rake and/or blow out plant and shrub beds, clean inside and underneath all shrubs; c. Remove and dispose of all mulch; d. Apply aged pine/spruce bark mulch to a uniform 3” layer; e. Prune shrubs to remove all dead and diseased parts and to shape for proper growth; f. Fertilize all planting areas with a fertilizer appropriate to each species; and g. Apply a pre-emergence herbicide to minimize in season weeding.; B. Summer Landscaping (Once during the last week of the months of May, June, July, August and September.): a. Refresh all edges as needed; b. Remove all weeds; c. Rake and/or blow out shrubs beds, clean inside and underneath all shrubs; d. Rake off and dispose of any accumulated debris; and e. Apply a pre-emergence herbicide to minimize in season weeding.; C. Fall Cleanup and Winter Preparation (Once at the end of the season – October 15-31): a. Refresh all edges as needed; b. Weed, rake and/or blow out shrub beds, clean inside and underneath all shrubs; c. Rake off and dispose of any accumulated debris; d. Prune all shrubs to remove all dead and diseased parts and to shape for proper growth; Mowing: All terrain in the park shall be mowed and shall include any elevated areas, sloped banks, esplanades and any grass on road surfaces. Hand mowing is required on all areas not conductive to the use of riding mowers where scalping may take place. At no time shall the grass be allowed to exceed 3.5 or 7 inches depending on the location. Any windrows of cut grass shall be removed or blended into the grass surface on the same day of mowing. Cuttings and clippings are to be removed from the entrances, walkways, parking areas and flower beds associated with any buildings.; Trimming: Trimming maintenance shall include the trimming of all grass located around or adjacent to fence lines, buildings, shrubbery, trees and the roadway. Trimming around each of the buildings is emphasized. The frequency of trimming shall be on every mowing cycle in those areas to be cut to 3.5 inches.
