A development of industry-accepted standards for urban tree selection, planting, and maintenance. This should include guidelines for: a. Selection of standard b. Ornamental c. Edible fruit-bearing trees d. Understory trees and shrubs e. Use of shrub/small tree plantings on esplanades and areas at risk of stormwater run-off/erosion for short- and long-term benefits. 3. An outline of best practices for preservation of existing tree stock during infrastructure maintenance activities by municipal staff and private enterprises, e.g., sidewalk, sewer line, water line maintenance, natural gas lines, communications poles, etc.
