US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) and other DoD agencies require a consistent and steady source of commercial small laboratory research animals (mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils) and related services (i.e. diagnostics and surgical) to support basic research and Good Laboratory Practices/Food and Drug Administration(GLP/FDA) studies. In order to ensure the quality of the animals purchased under this contract, these small laboratory research animals must be Specific Pathogen Free(SPF) per the minimal essential characteristics (MEC) and were bred and raised for laboratory research animal production by reputable AAALAC International or Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) accredited vendor facilities.
