Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1:1 Nursing Services 1. Provide all medically necessary services as needed by students throughout the school day, including, but not limited to services such as: trach care, mechanical ventilation monitoring, tube feeding, ostomy care, catheterization, medication administration, oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatment and wound care. 2. Provide and record all medical, hygiene, and comfort care for students under their care; maintain file with original orders, nursing assessments, and care plans as well as documentation of said care. Ensure that information remains confidential at all times. 3. Accompany the student at all times, including activities and field trips (by special request) that have been determined to be medically safe and approved by the parents and WCPS staff. Become familiar with student transportation procedures, emergency protocols, and evacuation procedures and be prepared to safeguard the student in the event of emergency situations. 4. Adhere to American Nurses Association (ANA), Maryland Board of Nursing, Code of Maryland (COMAR), and all other applicable regulations. 5. Maintain a list of all supplies, equipment, and medication needed by students under their care and report to the appropriate parties when any malfunction, low supply, or expirations occur. 6. Participate in routine school conferences and meetings regarding students as needed. 7. Report to the on-site Meritus health nurse and WCPS School Health Program Coordinator if he/she becomes ill or has an emergency and will need to relieve him/herself of duties for the remainder of the day. Remain on-site and continue nursing duties until replacement personnel arrives, if possible. 8. Maintain care of WCPS issued laptop and work cell phone and return at end of the contract (if provided). Health Room Nursing Services 1. Provide first aid care and emergency care, as well as chronic and acute disease management of all students in the school building, in accordance with induvial health care providers' orders, or emergency protocols. 2. Administrator medications and treatments, complete care plans, and perform nursing assessments. 3. Perform health screenings and disease testing as needed. 4. Assist in toileting as needed. 5. Document appropriately. 6. Provide resources and contact health care providers as needed.
