23192152 - Collection, Transportation, Recycling, Handling for Solid Wastes and Recyclables

The City of New Bedford (the “City”), acting through its Department of Facilities and Fleet
Management (the “Department”) hereby requests proposals to provide the City with collection,
transportation, recycling, handling and related services (the Services) for municipal solid wastes
and recyclable materials from residences City-wide and from certain commercial and municipal
facilities. Included in the Services are the following:
• Automated collection of municipal solid waste (MSW) and single-stream recyclables (SSRs) set
out at curbside in City-owned carts by City residents and eligible businesses;
• Collection of containerized MSW and SSRs and/or cardboard from City-designated locations,
School facilities and City event sites and of cardboard set out curbside by eligible businesses;
• Seasonal curbside collection of yard waste, brush and Christmas trees; and
• Special weekly and by-appointment curbside collection City-wide of bulky waste; mattresses
and box-springs; appliances; large metal items; and CRTs, TVs and screens.
• Operation and staffing of the City’s Recycling Center.
