Specifications include, but are not limited to: DUCT CLEANING Create a service opening into the supply and return trunklines (mains) of the HVAC air duct system to perform duct assessment and cleaning. Remove Air Filter and HEPA-Vac the filter box. Provide and install a new air filter. Clean dust and debris from mains and branches of the duct system with appropriate methods, including using a HEPA-filtered vacuum collection system. Remove and clean all registers, grilles, diffusers, and other air distribution devices if necessary. Devices should be cleaned with an approved cleaning agent. Safety Data Sheet for any chemicals and cleaners used must be provided before project commencement Create panels to close and seal service openings to NADCA standards AEROSOL SEALANT Test the system as necessary prior to sealing to identify the scale of leakage Internal components of furnace should be blocked off to isolate the ductwork from the system. Repair all accessible major leakage sites greater than 5/8 inch across, by hand, using mastic and fiberglass mesh tape. Apply aerosol sealant throughout the duct system. Actively monitor the system to document the reduction in leakage. Documentation shall be provided to Chelsea DPW. In case of left over fogging from Sealant, contractor must deploy HEPA Filtered Air scrubbers to reduce blowback throughout work areas. PROJECT COMPLETION Deliver a printed certificate of completion and leak test results. Reassemble and perform exterior cleanup of the duct system. Repair all injection holes/ports in existing ductwork Duct trunks or sections may be installed with insulation. Any insulation cut or removed to access the duct must be repaired or replaced. Ducts may run above drop ceilings. All ceiling panels must be replaced and dust vacuumed. Remove blocking, reinstall grills and registers, and turn on/test system to ensure performance has been maintained/improved. Sealant Warranty - Sealant must be backed by with a 10-year warranty. Contractor must guarantee that after the Air Duct Cleaning and Sealant service the duct system will not require an air duct cleaning for a period of 10 years, under normal use. Owner will replace the high efficiency air filter quarterly throughout the year and have routine annual maintenance done the HVAC system by certified HVAC professionals.
