Specifications include, but are not limited to: Street sweeping is conducted continuously from March to November, constantly replenishing the pile. From March to May, sweepings will be predominantly winter sand comingled with some trash. June through September, sweepings will be commingling with trash and any other debris deposited by residents. Late September through November, sweepings will be mostly leaves commingles with trash. Sweeper collected leaves must be removed along with the other sweepings at the bid price. The above materials shall be considered “standard” material. “Contaminated” material shall be material that contains metals or other debris (car parts, wood, brush) of a proportion that force it to be deposited in a landfill instead. Loads considered by the contractor to be “contaminated” must be inspected and approved for hauling as such at the time of loading by the Foreman in charge and not billed after the fact.; The work to be done under this contract shall consist of removing accumulated street sweepings from the City on an as needed basis. The contractor is responsible to dispose of all material presented by the City for removal. The City shall load all vehicles presented for removal unless otherwise agreed upon. All materials shall be disposed of at licensed recycling plants, legally approved dumpsites or reused by the contractor. Weight slips from said facility shall be presented to the City of Lawrence Department of Public Works along with the invoice. No payments will be made without proof of proper disposal.
