Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT)’s Office of Transportation Planning (OTP) is seeking proposals from qualified planning, engineering, and design firms with ferry operations expertise to study, design and operate a regional network of ferry services to, from and between communities along the Massachusetts coast. OTP is working with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to study the feasibility of expanding ferry service beyond the five current MBTA operational routes to serve more coastal communities across Eastern Massachusetts. This study is a combination planning and engineering assessment to reimagine water transportation in the MBTA region as part of a 2022 pilot in the transportation bond bill.
