1. Roof Demolition and Asbestos Abatement • Remove and dispose of approximately 31,450 square feet of asbestos-containing built-up roofing. • Utilize power roof cutters equipped with HEPA vacuums and sprayers to minimize dust exposure. • Ensure all asbestos-related work complies with applicable MIOSHA and EPA standards. • Provide all necessary bonding, insurance, and documentation before commencement of work. • Lower debris to dumpsters using crane boxes where applicable. • Conduct disposal at an EPA-approved landfill. • The contractor is responsible for ensuring proper waste handling and transportation. • Hold a pre-construction meeting with all applicable parties to discuss project logistics and safety considerations. 2. Temporary Vapor Barrier Requirement • Provide and install temporary covering and sealing of exposed roof deck areas with a sixmil poly vapor barrier as needed. • This covering shall serve as a moisture barrier for short-term protection against severe weather but is not intended as a long-term solution. 3. Safety and Environmental Considerations • Comply with all MIOSHA safety regulations regarding fall protection and asbestos abatement. • Protect ground and surrounding areas during the demolition process, including the installation of plywood under dumpster wheels to prevent surface damage. • Install wall tarps at dumpster areas as necessary to protect the building. • Conduct a final site cleanup to remove all debris from the roof and surrounding areas. • Coordinate work schedules to minimize disruption to school operations. • Prior to commencing work, confirm that internal roof drains are properly connected and functional.
