Specifications include, but are not limited to: Prior to the beginning of each mowing season the Contractor and the PM will review the grounds to identify any existing damages to landscape items. Any sprinkler head damaged from snowplowing must be repaired at contractor’s expense. Mow/trim— For the purpose of this specification, the regular mowing season is defined as starting the 1st of May and ending in mid-October - approximately 26 lawn maintenance cycles. Any mowing cycles before May 1st or after October 15th will require prior written approval from the PM. • clean debris from mowing areas prior to mow. • Grass shall be mowed to an average height of three inches. At no time shall more than 50% of the grass blade length be cut in one cycle. The initial mowing at the beginning of the mowing season may require an additional cycle. • Grass shall not be mowed when wet or excessively dry/dormant conditions exist. • Clippings shall be removed, if visible, after mowing. All clippings shall be removed from all sidewalks, concrete picnic table pads, parking areas and flower and shrub beds. • The Contractor is responsible for keeping any wood chip material confined to the original mulched areas. • Trim grass around all fixed objects and trees at every mowing. Also trim along fence adjacent to any mowed areas. Extreme care shall be used to prevent injury to MDOT fixed objects and trees. Contractor will be liable for damages as determined by the PM. • weedwack any weeds growing near curbs and on cement surfaces Fall/Spring Clean-up— o removing all leaves, limbs, sticks and twigs and other debris from the lawn and landscaped area, i.e. flower bed and areas on then north and west of building o fall clean up to be performed as late in the season as possible, a date will be agreed on with the contractor and the Program Manager as the season progresses Cleaning of gutters— o remove all debris from gutters and downspouts, making sure the downspouts are in proper working order. Landscaping o all weeds will be removed from the landscaped areas; i.e. the flower box outside the front doors, along the north and west sides of building, o all trees and bushes trimmed o bark replaced or added as directed by the TSC Program Manager o herbicide application as directed by the TSC Program Manager Snowplowing Snowplowing— o lots to be cleaned as close to 7:00am as possible, Monday- Friday o lot to be plowed when snow reaches 2 inches o clearing of snow from entire parking lot and pushing it to the west side of lot preferably, and to the south of the lot when west side is full. Shoveling— o all sidewalks along the east side and south side of main building. o all sidewalk area on the west side of the lab building. This means in front of both entrance doors and garage door. o shoveling to take place outside of business hours which are 7:30am -4:30pm. TSC employees will clear walks during business hours. o sidewalks to have no more than 1 inch of snow on them prior to 6:00am Plow drivers and mower operators will take care not to damage any grass area, bush/tree, and decorative areas, during the mowing and plowing process and agrees to repair, at contractor’s cost, any damage done by contractor.
