Stands 11 & 12 - Management Objective Northern Hardwoods (Mark to Cut) Follow the Complete Marker and prioritize selection of trees in the following order: 1) Target Basal Area is 70 with an acceptable range of 60-80 Basal Area. 2) Release suitable crop trees - Refer to the Complete Marker for crop tree specifications. 3) Favor to leave minor component species. 4) Remove high-risk and poor-quality trees. 5) Focus removal on large diameter basswood in larger gaps to encourage stump sprouting. 6) Maintain target Basal Area. 7) Do not mark any red oak, white pine, red pine or submerchantable conifer. 8) Remove poorer formed trees around healthy oak to encourage scarification and oak seedling recruitment. 9) Leave future snags for wildlife trees.
