The Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) desires a design that meets the physical, sensory, communicative, social, emotional and cognitive needs of users with a wide variety of physical and cognitive disabilities. The selected contractor will incorporate universal design principles for inclusive play. The design will also address the needs of emotionally impaired children. The selected design will provide opportunities for children with disabilities to interact and play directly with their peers. Playground designs should emphasize a diverse set of activities and spaces that are intentionally designed to promote the physical, cognitive, social, and learning development of the users. • Design shall include equipment for both 2 to 5-year-old and 5- to 12-year-old age groups. • Design shall include a minimum of 35 play components with at least half of the elevated components accessible by ramp and all the elevated components accessible by ramp or transfer. • Decks are to be connected by ADA-compliant ramps and should all be of suitable size to allow users using a variety of mobility devices to access and use decklevel components. • Design shall include a minimum of 17 accessible ground-level components of at least 5 different types. • Design shall include a freestanding sound/musical panel containing a minimum of 5 different sound or musical options. • Design to include a minimum of 3 slides of varying types, at least one of which shall be a double slide. • Design shall include several ADA panels above ground level. • Design shall incorporate multiple barrier-free components for children of all abilities. • Design shall include 8 swing seats with a minimum of 4 inclusive swing seats. Swings shall be 5” OD Arch Frame type.
