Specifications include, but are not limited to: VEHICLE: Vehicles shall be motor driven, using gasoline or diesel fuels. The vehicle shall meet the emission control regulations of the State of Michigan. It shall have a minimum of two but not more than four axles. Its width shall not exceed ninety-six (96) inches, height not more than thirteen (13) feet-six (6) inches and length not more than forty (4) feet. AXLE RATING: Front axle load shall include vehicle front weights, plow and its accessories. Total front axle loading shall not exceed 18,000 pounds. Rear axles (including tag pusher and tandem axle assembly) shall be rated according to the axle spacing, spacing nine (9) feet and over – 18,000 pounds; spacing more than three one-half (3.5) feet, but less than nine (9) feet – 13,000 pounds; two tandem axle assembles – 16,000 pounds. Axles spaces less than three and one-half (3.5) feet shall not exceed 9,000 pounds. TIRE: Tires shall be rubber pneumatic and standard to the vehicle. Tire loading shall not exceed 700 pounds per inch of width. LIGHTING: All lights required to meet the Michigan – Motor Vehicle Code and the Department of Transportation regulations shall be provided, including an audible warning when the vehicle is in reverse motion. Also, a revolving warning light that can be seen three hundred sixty (360) degrees of the vehicle shall be provided. SNOW PLOW: The snow plow shall be manufactured to suit and be compatible with the vehicle. The moldboard and blade width shall not be less than the vehicle tire path. The plow shall be equipped with adjustable skids or roller casters. Molboard assembly shall be equipped automatic and adjustable trip assembly to prevent damage to manholes, catch basins or other public street appurtenances. Adherence to the above specifications is in conjunction with other city and /or state regulations pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles on the public streets, sidewalks and other public places of the City of Detroit.
