The project will involve installing two additional dual-fuel natural gas/fuel oil condensing boilers, which are currently stored on-site. These boilers will be moved into the boiler room and installed with new circulation pumps. The facility will transition from steam and steam-to-hot-water heat exchangers to a hot water-only system. This transition includes integrating hot water piping into the existing infrastructure connected to the steam-to-hot-water heat exchanger serving the Women’s Facility, which will be decommissioned as indicated in the mechanical plans. The general contractor will also remove the two existing steam boilers to make space for the new hot water boilers. The contractor is responsible for connecting to the existing tie-in points in the new dual-fuel boiler heating water loop. They will provide and install hot water pumps and all necessary appurtenances as specified in the plans. Distribution piping for the hot water system will be installed to new fin tube radiation and to ten new AHUs, as outlined in the plans. Additionally, two new AHUs will be installed at the Women’s Facility, and the variable air volumes (VAVs - 66 total) in the Women’s Facility will need to be rebalanced. Nine AHUs at the Men’s Facility and two at the Women’s Facility will be removed. The contractor must provide a phasing plan for staging the AHU replacements at both facilities. A new chilled water plant will also be installed as part of this project, with associated system pumps and appurtenances to be supplied and installed by the contractor. The chilled water plant will consist of (2) new chillers and relocating the existing chiller serving the cell block. Chilled water distribution piping and pumps, as indicated in the mechanical plans, will be installed to the new AHUs.
