This bid solicitation is for prescribed rotational goat grazing on 43 acres in Lake Louise State Park in Mower County. The goal of the project is to reduce the density of woody shrubs in oak woodland communities. The primary vegetation targeted for removal includes buckthorn, prickly ash, and honeysuckle. The project is located NW of the campground. See the attached project map for approximate size and location of paddocks. The project involves grazing 4 adjacent paddocks. The total project area is 43 acres. All paddocks are at least partially bounded by multiple use trails (hiking, horse, and bike). Large buckthorn stems (>3” diameter) have been cut over the past several years and most of the dense remaining buckthorn consists of seedlings or sprouts under 1.5 inches in diameter. Access to the site is along the campground road to the trail system.
