To provide chemical health education services for men and women ages 18 and older, charged with first time DWI offenses. Courses will be offered twice per month, once a month for July and December, for a total of 22 courses per year. • The One-Day DWI program combines educational video and lectures, interactive lectures, small group discussions, participant worksheets, a victim impact panel, and self-assessment tools. • The primary approach is cognitive-behavioral, with a focus on utilizing new information to make healthy choices surrounding alcohol and drug use, particularly with respect to operating motorized vehicles. The interactive lectures, small group discussions, and worksheets afford each participant the opportunity to explore belief systems and thinking patterns. • Full payment of the registration through Dakota County is required prior to delivery of services. Dakota County Community Corrections will send the final approved roster at least one business day in advance. Attendance will be taken following each break. Participants must attend the entire program to receive credit. • No one may attend while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If attendees participate in-person, participants may be asked to submit to a Breathalyzer test and or Urinalysis Test at any time during the day if there is reason to believe that a participant is impaired. • Participants terminated from the program will need to reschedule.
