Specifications include, but are not limited to: Funding Categories The details of the five categories of projects that will be funded under this RFP are as follows: Primary Prevention and Education: This category targets projects that develop and implement primary prevention and education services of opioid related SUD. Primary prevention projects are defined as the use of approaches that aim to prevent OUD or the initiation of use/misuse. Projects may include but are not limited to: Developing community prevention efforts such as strategic messaging on the consequences of opioid and stimulant misuse. Implementing school-based prevention programs and outreach. This may include training for teachers and other school faculty on strategies, resources, and best practices for addressing OUD in students and parents or family members of students. Note: Primary prevention projects cannot allocate 10% or more of their budget and work plan towards naloxone or work more suited for Category B: Harm Reduction Services Harm Reduction Services: This category targets harm reduction programs for opioid related SUD. For the purposes of this RFP, harm reduction is defined as a range of evidence-based strategies, interventions, or programs aimed at reducing the negative consequences associated with drug use, preventing overdose and infectious diseases, and improving the physical, mental, and social well-being of people who use drugs (PWUD) and their communities.
