SPECIFICATIONS: • The selected contractor will remove the existing 12-inch riser valve and replace it with a new, metal, 12-inch gate valve with hand wheel. The new valve must fit the existing space and bolt pattern. • The valve controls water going into the 500,000 Gallon Water Tower. • It will be the vendors responsibility to analyze the existing valve and pipe and replace with the same or better. • Vendor will be responsible to verify that the new valve will fit the existing space and bolt pattern. • The riser valve is located in a concrete vault directly under the water tower. All industry, state, and OSHA rules and standards for work in a “confined space” must be followed. See the MN OSHA website for details: https://www.dli.mn.gov/business/workplace-safety-and-health/mnosha-compliance-standards-and-regulations • The vendor must maintain a clean workspace and take precautions to avoid contamination of water in riser pipe. • Vendor needs to follow industry standards for chlorination / sanitization when putting water line back in service. • Installation is to be done in a professional manner per factory, state, and industry standards. • Testing of the installed valve and piping must be done and shown to be leak free. • This work will be done during cold weather months when the tower is empty. Twenty percent of the project payment will be held until top side of valve can be tested. • The estimated date for testing of the upper part of the valve is May 2025. • Vendor will warranty valve to be leak free for one (1) year from completion of installation. • The owner must be given a one week notice prior to work starting. • Vendor is to provide progress updates, and immediately inform the owner of any issues or problems that arise. • Valve installation to be completed by February 28, 2025
