Specifications include, but are not limited to: ● Serve as the Special Education Director and provide Special Education services for students enrolled at Perpich Arts High School to students. ● Recruit service providers as necessary and manage service provider budgets ● Represent Perpich Arts High School and be fully accountable for all activities relating to Special Education services including (not limited to): o Due Process procedure/policy o Training of Special Education staff to address program needs o Consistent in-depth review of special education recordkeeping and assistive correction as necessary o Oversight of fiscal monitoring activities conducted by Minnesota Department of Education o Completion of state application processes o Implementation of mandated reporting requirements o State of Minnesota required special education reporting o Management and oversight of Special Education service contracts and identification of service providers to meet all student needs o Meet with Perpich Arts High School parents to address concerns and needs o Lead Special Education related dispute resolution on behalf of the agency ● Supply information, guidance and/or support for o Training and mentoring of the special education teacher(s) and staff o Education policy and procedural information and training for teaching staff o Response to letters of complaint or potential formal complaints o Conduct of complex problematic meetings for planning, including development of the individual Education Plan (IEP) and three-year evaluations o Creation of corrective action plans o Advisement and supervision of the special education teacher(s) in student transitions and location(s) of services o Acquisition of special education software o Collaboration with school administrators in performance evaluation of the special education teacher(s) and staff o Oversight of the special education teacher(s) and staff in completion of IEP, evaluation and progress reports o Maintenance of effective and regular communication with the School’s Principals, Directors and Student Support Team o State Funding Documentation o Collaboration with general education teachers, special education staff and administrative personnel
