Specifications include, but are not limited to: MnDOT requests responses for a Clear Roads project to evaluate a standard test method for measuring the ice melting capacity of deicers. The Mechanical Rocker Test Procedure, developed through Nebraska Department of Transportation research, has been proposed by Clear Roads for potential adoption as an American Association of State and Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) standard. This project will evaluate the Mechanical Rocker Test Procedure for efficacy, recommending modifications if necessary. This project has been developed by Clear Roads. Clear Roads is an ongoing pooled fund research project aimed at rigorous testing of winter maintenance materials, equipment and methods for use by highway maintenance crews. Clear Roads will fund and oversee the contract for this project in coordination with MnDOT. The goal of this project is to provide agencies with an objective, repeatable test procedure for measuring the ice melting capacity of deicers.
