The Vincent Hall Building emergency generator was installed in the 1960’s. The generator has exceeded its life cycle expectancy. Generators of this vintage/type/size are no longer manufactured and replacement parts no longer available. This Project will remove the natural gas emergency generator and replace the emergency system power source. As a result of initial evaluations by the design team and discussions with UMN Capital Project Management (CPM), Facilities Management (FM) and Building Codes Division (BCD), the design team was directed to develop options for a battery powered inverter type emergency power back-up system. Contractor should install new system prior to disconnection of the existing system. Work may commence after the completion of finals on May 14, 2025. Emergency power must be in place during student orientations over the summer. Days are available without students when the switch over may be completed.
