Specifications include, but are not limited to: Regulations and Standards: The Vendor will adhere to all federal and state regulations and standards that govern MSVA and which are applicable to the State Veterans Homes: The vendor will adhere to all regulations and standards that govern MSVA: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Mississippi Department of Health, Division of Licensure and Certification; Nursing Home Regulations; Rules, Regulations, and Minimum Standards for Institutions for the Aged or Infirm; MSVA Policies and Procedures; USDA Food Safety and Handling Guidelines Nourishments Food and drink items will be requisitioned by MSV A Nursing Staff for feeding of residents between meals. Procedures will be agreed upon by vendor and MSV A. MSV A reserves the right to make additions and deletions to the nourishment list. Items to be available include, but are not limited to: Coffee and Decaffeinated Coffee; Tea; Water; Sugar and artificial sweeteners; Fruit Juices; Soups; Cheese; Crackers; Cookies; Peanut Butter; Fresh fruit; Bread; Lunch meat and meat spreads; Cereals, dry and instant hot; Condiments; Single-Serve Ice Cream; Sandwiches; Pudding; Pre-packaged thicken liquids; Pre-packaged thicken liquids for individuals. The vendor's dietitians will develop a weekly nourishment calendar appropriate for diets of residents of the nursing home. Medication-Treatment Products Food items used as medicine or to administer medications will be available. Items include, but are not limited to: Fruit Juices; Applesauce; Bran; Drink Mix; Supplements, i.e. Boost, Ensure, Medpass, etc. Supplements The vendor will establish a formulary of commercial dietary supplements with input from MSVA Administrator or assigned staff. Supplements will be supplied based on physicians' orders and nutritional needs of residents, i.e. Boost, Ensure, Medpass, etc. Any deviation from the physicians’ orders must be reviewed by the administrator and approved by the physician.
