Specifications include, but are not limited to: MOREnet desires to contract with one or more certificate providers in order to offer a secure certificate service to its membership. MOREnet would like to encourage its membership to use secure certificates for such services as secure web sites, POP and IMAP over SSL, SMTP with SSL encryption, FTP with SSL, personal email signing or encryption, machine certificates, and document signing, among other secure applications. The intent of this service is to help lower the cost of operating secure services by MOREnet and its membership. By combining the SSL certificate needs of the membership and purchasing secure certificate services in greater numbers, MOREnet hopes to pass cost savings on to, and encourage greater use of, authenticated services by the membership.
