The City of Blue Springs is soliciting veterinary services to assist the Police Department with animal control services. The services include, but are not limited to: ❖ Animal control officers delivering animals that are picked-up in the City to the service provider and notifying the service provider of said animals; ❖ Service provider, within two (2) hours of the animal being delivered to the service provider’s facility, shall do a detailed inspection of the animal so that the service provider can make a medical determination on a course of action ranging from providing additional medical treatment to euthanizing the animal. Service provider shall provide details to the City on who at the service provider’s office performed the intake exam and details regarding the inspection. The general inspection of the animal shall include a visual examination, physical examination, vital signs, behavioral assessment and documentation. o If the animal is injured (injured animals are animals that are bleeding, malnourished, have obvious wounds, neglected, etc.), and a medical determination is made, service provider will contact the Chief of Police or their designee and obtain consent as to a course of action. ▪ Upon receiving confirmation of a course of action from the Chief of Police or their designee, service provider will proceed with said course of action. ❖ Quarantine and test bite case animals for 10-days. ❖ Disease testing, vaccinations, spay/neutering, euthanasia, emergency field service (livestock tranquilization / euthanization); and ❖ Performing necropsy for cruelty cases (testify in court when necessary)
