The Charter Township of Independence is located in Northern Oakland County along the I-75 corridor. It encompasses a six-mile by six-mile area and has a population of approximately 36,000 citizens. The Township is primarily made up of low-density residential developments but has experienced some commercial and industrial development over the past several years.
The Township has secured an estimated $5.2 million thru the Bipartisian Infrastructure Law (BIL) Emerging Contaminates Grants administed thru the State of Michigan Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The project consists of extension of water mains in two areas of the Township. In Section 32, approximately 6,450 feet of water main will be extended on Parview Road from Dixie Highway to Andersonville Road and in In Section 20, approximately 6,800 feet of water main will be extended on streets bordered by Clarkston Road to the north and Waldon Road to the south, and directly east of the Village of Clarkston. Both projects are to address the loss of production water due to PFAS contamination.
The Township is seeking bond legal counsel to prepare and execute all necessary materials as required by the State of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) DWSRF program and Michigan Finacial Authorty (FMA) to completely administer and fully advise the Township regarding all aspects of this process, from a legal consultant perspective.
The Charter Township of Independence invites prospective, qualified bond counsel to submit responses to its request for proposals (RFP) for the project.
