Summary of Specifications:
Sealed proposals endorsed, “North Old Woodward Parking Structure Repairs – 2010”, Contract # 4-10(PK), Birmingham, Michigan will be received at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Birmingham, Michigan, on Thursday, March 11, 2010 until 2:00 p.m. local time after which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Tribute Room on the Lower Level of the Baldwin Public Library, located at 300 W. Merrill Street, Birmingham, Michigan. Attendance is mandatory for general contract bidders.
The work will consist of repairs and maintenance to all levels of the North Old Woodward Parking Structure. Work will include but not limited to the following:
1. Concrete repairs and maintenance of concrete driving surfaces, ceilings, and columns.
2. Waterproofing materials repair and maintenance, and application of penetrating concrete sealer to all supported floor surfaces.
3. Repairs and maintenance of precast façade elements.
4. Minor stair tower repairs, including work to steel railings, stair treads, and architectural sealants.
Approximate quantities are as follows: 10,500 sq. ft of floor, ceiling and other concrete repairs, 24,500 linear feet of crack sealing and joint repair, and 145,000 sq. ft of concrete sealant, plus other work to make a complete project.
Bidders are encouraged to examine the Contract Documents prior to the time of the prebid meeting. Contract Documents will be available starting on Monday, February 22, 2010. The Contract Documents may be examined at the following locations:
1. Engineering Department, 2nd floor, Municipal Building, 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, MI 48009.
2. WALKER Restoration Consultants/Engineers, Inc., 525 Avis Drive, Suite 1, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
Complete sets of Contract Documents may be obtained at office of Engineering Department, Municipal Building, Birmingham, Michigan, Phone (248) 530-1840 upon depositing sum of $50.00 for each set of printed documents or $10.00 for each CD with contract documents in PDF format. This money is non-refundable. Checks: Payable to the City of Birmingham. Plans and Specifications may be shipped by Federal Express upon receipt of the deposit noted above, and a Federal Express account number to which shipping will be charged. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the total price of the bid, payable to the City of Birmingham.
The successful bidder will be required to post bonds and to comply with the City Charter respecting contracts.
Procurement for the City of Birmingham will be handled in a manner providing fair opportunity for all businesses. This will be accomplished without abrogation or sacrifice of quality and as determined to be in the best interest of the City of Birmingham.
The City of Birmingham reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive any informality in the proposals received, and to accept any proposal which it shall deem to be most favorable to the interests of the City.
