Summary of Specifications:
Sealed proposals endorsed “Residence Park Subdivision Reconstruction - Contract #8-07(P)” will be received from contractors by the City of Birmingham, at the office of the City Clerk, located at 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan, until 2:00 p.m., on Monday, December 17, 2007. The proposals will be publicly read aloud at that time.
The project will include installation of new public combined sewer, new public water main, and new asphalt pavement on five local adjacent streets and a public alley within the City of Birmingham. Approximate quantities are as follows: 2,500 tons of bituminous pavement, 6,000 lineal feet of concrete curb and gutter, 2,600 lineal feet of 12” to 30” storm and combined sewers, 3,700 lineal feet of 8” water main, plus other work to make a complete project. The contractor will also have the opportunity to install 6” sewer services and 1” water services for the private properties along the length of the route. Due to the confined space of the immediate area, the Contractor will be required to construct the project in two phases, completing the entire first phase prior to starting the second.
Plans and specifications for the project may be obtained from the City’s Engineering Department, (248) 644-3865, located on the second floor of City Hall, beginning Monday, December 3, 2007, for a non-refundable fee of $25.00 if picked up directly, or $35.00 if mailed. Payment shall be in the form of a check made payable to the City of Birmingham, which must be received prior to mailing of plans and specifications. Overnight delivery will be accommodated provided arrangements are made for the shipping cost to be paid through the purchaser’s account.
The City of Birmingham will hold a mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting at 9:00 a.m. Local Time on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in the City Commission Chambers. Bids will not be received or considered from any parties that were not represented at the Pre-Bid Meeting.
