Sealed proposals for REWIRE HOME WITH NEW SERVICE AT 803 DOUGLAS will be received by the City of Jackson Purchasing Agent, 161 W. Michigan Avenue, 10th Floor, Jackson, Michigan, until, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2023, 9:00:00 AM.
The work includes the following partial listing of items with approximate quantities:
1. Electrical System Overhaul:
a. Install new 100-amp service panel, meter base, riser, and grounding as per MRC 2015.
2. Basement Upgrades:
a. Install interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide detector. If hardwiring is not feasible, use a radio frequency interconnect with a 10-year battery.
b. Install a dedicated circuit for the furnace.
c. Remove all unused wiring.
d. Ensure all existing wiring is up to the standard of chapter 38 of MRC 2015.
e. Set up four service lights: near the service panel, furnace, and two others evenly spaced.
f. Add a GFCI outlet at both the service panel and furnace.
3. Kitchen & Bathroom Enhancements:
a. Install dedicated 20-amp circuits with GFCI protection in the kitchen, with receptacles spaced as per chapter 39 of MRC.
b. For the bathroom, install a 20-amp circuit with GFCI protection and lighting.
4. General Wiring and Circuitry:
a. Replace knob and tube wiring following the 6/12 rule of MRC 2015.
b. Install a dedicated circuit for the water heater.
5. Exterior Modifications:
a. Set up lights at both the front and rear doors.
b. Add tamper-resistant and weather-resistant GFCI receptacles at both entrances.

No pre-bid meeting will be held; contractors may contact the homeowner to schedule a date and time to access the property to better understand the project’s scope of work, if necessary.
