The City of Jackson is currently inviting qualitied consulting firms to submit proposals for engineering services required for the replacement of lead service lines (LSLs) and water mains (WMs) as follows:
Task 1) On East Michigan Avenue between Cooper Street and the east City Limits, records show there are fifty-seven (57) lead service lines (LSLs) that require lead pipe replacement.
Records show that thirty-six of these LSLs are classified as “partials” as they are comprised of a combination of copper pipe and lead pipe. Thirty-five of the partials are copper pipe from the main to the stop box and lead pipe from the stop box to the meter. A single partial is lead pipe from the main to the stop box and copper pipe from the stop box to the meter.
Records show that twenty-three of these LSLs are classified as “fulls” as they are comprised of lead pipe over the full length of the service from the main to the meter.
The project will replace all lead pipe with new copper pipe. The attached Table 1 is a summary of LSLs within the project zone that require lead pipe replacement.
Construction for this task is scheduled to commence no earlier than July 11, 2022 and be substantially complete and open to traffic no later than October 14, 2022.
Task 2) On Wildwood Avenue between Lydia Street and Steward Avenue, approximately 100 feet of antiquated (1919) eight-inch cast iron water main pipe requires replacement. There are two water service lines within the subject segment, one of which is comprised of lead from the main to the meter. Construction of this task is scheduled to commence no sooner than June 13, 2022 and be substantially complete and open to traffic no later than July 29, 2022.
The construction contracts for both tasks listed above will be let by the City of Jackson.
