The Ypsilanti Senior Center is a non-profit in Ypsilanti, MI, looking to expand its mission to become a hub for intergenerational activity. Through recently awarded ARPA grants, the center wants to make improvements to its current facilities, to create space for, and foster programming that will combine activities for all generations. The current building sits on the edge of Recreation Park, which hosts a neighborhood pool, basketball court, playground, walking path, baseball fields, and pavilion with picnic tables within its 17-acre footprint. This site acts as an ideal location for the center to take a firm foothold on refocusing its mission on gearing itself for intergenerational programs. The project is intended to grow based on initial visioning exercises with community members. This scope is not all-inclusive of these ideas but is anticipated to be a continuing relationship past the details of the specific RFP.
