Beaverton Trail Head Park
The City of Beaverton is requesting Bids for the construction of the Beaverton Trail Head Park. Bids for the construction of the project will be received at Beaverton City Hall, located at 128 Saginaw Street, PO Box 477, Beaverton, Michigan, 48612 until 2:00 p.m. local time, Thursday June 20, 2024, at that time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read.
The City of Beaverton has received a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant for creation of a new trail head park in downtown Beaverton at the northeast corner of Ross (M18) and Porter Streets and adjoining Ross Lake. This small ¼ acre park will serve as a trail head to the pathway running from Gladwin south into Beaverton, known as the “Trail of Two Cities.” The portion of trail within the City of Beaverton limits has not been built yet but this new trail head park will be the first phase of that overall trail development project that will ultimately complete the connection between Beaverton and Gladwin. Currently this property consists of an unimproved gravel surface parking lot with access onto both Ross and Porter Streets.
Items of work include constructing a new asphalt parking lot, curb and gutter, and pedestrian access via concrete sidewalks and brick pavers intended to be a decorative and functional extension of the current streetscape elements on Ross Street. The project also includes the construction of a wood ADA accessible observation deck overlooking Ross Lake and a short section of 8’ wide asphalt pathway that will ultimately be extended east under a future project. Other site amenities include benches, street lighting, bollards, bike racks, signage, storm sewer, bio swale, and landscaping.
