All communication with respect to this RFI/RFQ must be submitted to Butterworthsolar@grcity.us. Only information submitted to this email address will be considered for purposes of this RFI/RFQ. Respondents must email questions regarding any aspect of this RFI/RFQ and general inquiries to Butterworthsolar@grcity.us by 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday, December 11, 2023. Responses to questions and inquiries will be posted to the City’s Butterworth Solar website by Thursday, December 20, 2023 (grandrapidsmi.gov/Government/Departments/Sustainability/ClimateChange/Butterworth-Solar). 10 A site visit to Butterworth will be scheduled for prospective respondents to tour the Site as an opportunity to inform their responses. Respondents are encouraged, but not required, to attend the site visit. Interested parties must register to attend. Information on the date and time as well as how to register for the site visit will be shared as soon as possible. The City is targeting the week of November 27, 2023, for a site visit.
The City of Grand Rapids, Michigan (City), acting through the Office of Sustainability and Strategy, is issuing this Request for Information and Request for Qualifications (RFI/RFQ) from eligible respondents to identify innovative applications of solar photovoltaic (solar) systems at the former Butterworth Landfill (Butterworth or Site), a U.S. EPA regulated Superfund site, to supply clean renewable electricity to both the City’s Primary Circuit and other potential partners. With this RFI/RFQ, the City seeks to identify qualified potential proposers with innovative approaches to building cost-effective solar at Butterworth. The goal is to have the site partially, if not completely, operational in 2026.
