Summary of Specifications:
The County plans to purchase a new i5 Server to be used as its Contingency Server and as its Backup Domino Server consolidating from two servers to one.
The current IBM AS/400 Contingency Server is eight years old, is not upgradeable to any current hardware, and will not run the operating systems in use on our Production servers. It also has no licensed software and relies upon reloading OS/400 when put into use. We plan to transfer any available software from current servers and only purchase software not transferable.
As a Contingency Server it will be available to load application software, user security, device configurations, etc. from Production backups if needed in a Disaster Recovery scenario.
As the Backup Domino Server, it will replicated in real-time from the Main Domino Server and will be used for back up and fail over.
After consulting with outside experts and considering budget constraints, the County has determined the i5 Model 520 specified herein to be the most appropriate under the circumstances.
