529439 - As-Needed GIS Support Services

DWSD Field Engineering requires temporary Geographic Information Services (GIS) to perform quality assurance of construction contract GIS based deliverables, as well as transfer historical as-built information and editing of the existing GIS database to have all work available to Operations and Engineering staff that use GIS. The information contained within DWSD as-build documents include all information that is available in the drawings pertaining to the departments water and sewer linear assets.

The scope entails primarily as-build documents already in digital format that DWSD will provide, that the Consultant will work on to develop a script to automate the extraction of key data from each card and/or drawing as necessary to update the DWSD GIS database. DWSD has updated its’ contract specifications for contractors to provide as-builds in GIS format, which also requires technical resources to review those GIS submittals as well as developing layers that we can share with other agencies, such as City of Detroit Fire Department, Planning and Public Works.

Work will be assigned by DWSD as described in this section. DWSD is also looking at options to improve the reliability and ease of use of its GIS systems and requires subject matter expertise and technical analysis of options to migrate from existing platform state.
