Summary of Specifications:
The project consists of administration and delivery of the Macomb County Employee Assistance Program. The purpose of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is to provide assistance to employees who are affected by a variety of challenges; both personally and professionally, that can adversely impact job performance, health, and well-being. It is recognized that an employee having challenges with job performance, absenteeism, poor interpersonal relations, or other job-related problems may have non-work problems as a root cause for job-related issues. It is sometimes difficult for an employee to admit that he or she is struggling and to know where to obtain help once the challenge has been recognized. The EAP is designed to provide an avenue of assistance for employees in need of help. The EAP is a program designed to assist all employees and their family members successfully respond to life’s challenges and avoid further advancement of conditions that may negatively impact their employment or employability. The EAP addresses a variety of personal and professional challenges including, but not limited to: family dynamic, marital, legal, mental, emotional, financial, stress-related and substance abuse problems. Essentially, the EAP acts as a third party between the employee and the employer to offer life solutions; in an attempt to assist the employee with problems impacting work performance, professional development, health and productivity. The EAP also provides consultation and guidance to employees in leadership roles who are managing troubled employees or seeking to enhance the work environment, promote employee engagement or improve job performance. By aligning with organizational values and vision, the EAP will enhance the overall employee experience. Confidentiality is essential to employees who are utilizing the EAP. Any breach of confidentiality would be detrimental to the viability of the Program both for specific individuals and for the EAP effort in general.
