Scope of Services
Oakland County Health Division Consultative services to include (approximately 6-10 hours
per month):
• Review and approve or deny prior authorizations for dental care from contracted dental
offices.
• Assist the dental staff by providing professional advice in the operation of Dental
Program.
• Assist in hiring new dental personnel by interviewing and interpreting qualifications.
• Recommend changes for maintaining quality of the program (changes/updates of
equipment, procedures, assignment of personnel, and safety).
• Meet with the Administration and other County officials to discuss the Dental Program
as requested.
• Communicate with the contracted dentists on areas that may need improvement and for
care coordination. Participate in audits if necessary.
• Advise on service contracts with vendors and suppliers.
Advise the Administrator-Dental Services of new programs, policies, and laws that affect
the Dental Program.
• Supervise dental staff for the PA161 program, which includes reviewing patient records,
writing referrals for patient care and being available to staff for questions or concerns.
• Provide dental screenings for early childhood facilities (as needed).
Mileage reimbursement is provided when traveling to early childhood education sites at the
current IRS rate.
Oakland County Children’s Village dental services to include: every other Monday 6-8 hours a
day on average or 12-24 hours monthly, with an option to add/decrease additional days
monthly as agreed upon if population and/or need increases/decreases.
- Provide palliative and some restoration services to children housed at Children’s Village that need to be seen by a dentist (primarily screening, exams, and fillings). Review X-rays and document services provided within the dental chart. Make referrals to dental specialists.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Supervisor at Children’s Village for the coordination of care for children with emergency dental needs.
- Supervise Registered Dental Hygienist for the PA161 program, which includes reviewing patient records, writing referrals for patient care and being available for questions or concerns. Occasionally involves consultation with Registered Dental Hygienist on Wednesday when the Hygienist provides care to children at Children’s Village.
Provider Requirement:
Furnish Children’s Village with documentation from the Michigan Department of Human Servicess verifying that they have not been named in a central registry case as the perpetrator of child abuse or child neglect.
Will be required to authorize a criminal history check in accordance with the privacy act of 974.
Must submit to periodic tuberculin skin tests at County expense.
Must participate in PREA training annually as provided by Children’s Village
