RFP 18-003 - Climate Resiliency and Flooding Mitigation Study

Urbanized flooding is a significant challenge in the southeast Michigan region, including Detroit and the neighboring communities.  A number of major flooding events have occurred over the last few years that have affected roadway operations causing road closures and affecting the safety of the transportation network.  The MDOT Climate Resiliency Study indicates that by 2050 the region may experience a 10% increase in annual rainfall and a 20% increase in the 100-year rain event.  Discussions are already underway within the stormwater community to update stormwater management design standards based on accurate rainfall precipitation and frequency data for the region.
 
This project will provide input into the development of SEMCOG’s Long Range Transportation Plan as well as work associated with the implementation of the Water Resources Plan for Southeast Michigan.
