The Village will contract with a consultant to conduct a Road Audit of M-50 within the Village Limits, east of First Street to west of Wilcox Road. The intersections of M-50 at First Street, Riley Street/Main Street, Ann Arbor Road, US-23, Waterstradt Commerce Drive, Cabela’s East, Cabela’s West, and Wilcox Road will be included in the audit.
These areas are above average for traffic crashes and traffic enforcement. The audit will identify needs for safe motor vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic flow. M-50 has a large influx of traffic that will continue to increase due to new and planned development along the corridor.
The Village will coordinate with MDOT, as M-50 is a state trunk-line, and work to identify the best way to address the target areas in ways that are acceptable to MDOT. Implementing the audit recommendations is anticipated to reduce the amount of crashes and enforcement actions along the corridor.
The Village will submit the final report of findings and recommendations and a formal response to SEMCOG at the end of the project.
