Pricing is requested for the following services:
Field Mowing: Mowing will occur on grassland or open field areas with minimal shrub cover. Field mowing must cut vegetation 6-8” above the ground level so as to not disrupt soil. Mowing services will likely be requested from July – September. Project sites range from 20-90 acres.
Brush Removal: Brush removal will be requested when the landscape includes shrub cover less than 6” in diameter. Anything over 6” would be classified as a tree and not be included in the removal request. Brush removal must also include chipping, burning, or dispersing woody material across the landscape. Brush removal projects typically range from 1-15 acres.
Turf Mowing: Mowing will occur across areas planted with turf or similar cover and be repeated 3-6 times during the growing season. Turf mowing services must include trimming around posts, bollards, trail markers, fences, walls, and similar objects within specified project area. Turf should be mowed to a height 3-4”. Project sites can accommodate zero-turn and front mount mowers or tractors with mowing attachments. Project sites might not be able to accommodate equipment wider than 14’. Project sites could include open lawns, around parking lots, or along pedestrian/bike trails.
In addition, WCPARC is requesting per mile pricing for turf services along the Border to Border Trail in western Washtenaw County. The cost per mile should include mowing a 5-6’ wide band of turf along both sides of the bike/pedestrian trail.
Boom Mowing: Boom mowing will be requested in areas where slopes or structures (i.e. retaining walls or fences) limit access for traditional mowing devices. Work can be completed by boom mower or similar device. Project sites might not be able to accommodate equipment wider than 14’. Project sites could require 100’-5000’ of boom mowing services measured as a single pass of the mower deck.
Winter Maintenance: Winter maintenance is requested along the Border to Border Trail and other areas as requested. The trail is typically 10’ wide. Winter maintenance includes snow removal services for accumulations greater than 3[PS3] [AK4] ”. Winter maintenance will be conducted within 3 days of the initial snowfall. Snow removal equipment on the trail must be either a plow with a rubber tipped blade or a nylon rotary brush. Contractor shall be responsible for protecting boardwalks from damage caused by clearing operations. No salt or sand application is required. Currently 7.5 miles of trail spread across several segments in western Washtenaw County may be included in winter maintenance (see map).
Fence Installation: Fence installation will be requested along borders, or within parks and preserves as needed. Fencing locations will be made visible by boundary surveys before installation is requested.
Three unit prices are being requested for fencing services. The first is a price for materials and labor to install cedar split rail fencing. Split rail fencing should have two rails. The price is requested by the linear foot of installed fencing. Posts should be placed no more than 8’ apart. Expected split rail fencing installation projects are expected between 20-50’.
The second unit price is for materials and labor to install farm fencing as specified below. Pricing is requested per linear foot of installed fence. This fencing is typically used along borders or roadways of county parks and preserves. This cost must include material and labor needed to install in the landscape. Length of fencing requested could vary from 100’ to over 2500’. Pricing assumes minimal clearing required for installation.
The final price requested for fencing services is for an hourly labor rate. The hourly rate could be used to estimate the cost to repair existing fencing structures.
