Summary of Specifications:
The purpose of this project is to reduce erosion, stabilize the channel, minimize long term maintenance requirements, and improve water quality in Traver Creek. Proposed work will be located between Barton Drive and Plymouth Road in the City of Ann Arbor. Traver Creek is a pre-existing chapter 20 county drain whose drainage district is located within Ann Arbor Township, Northfield Township, and the City of Ann Arbor. In the area southwest of Barton Drive there is an approximately 500 foot section with severe erosion. There are some steep, nearly vertical slopes with several homes within a few feet of the scoured channel. A short portion was stabilized on the downstream end of the reach in 2004 by the WCWRC. The project is listed on the State Revolving Loan Fund 2011 FY Project Priority List, and is eligible for loan forgiveness through the Green Project Reserve. http://www.michigan.gov/documents/deq/deq-ess-mfs-SRF-SRFiupppl2 11_330528_7.pdf It is assumed that the successful consultant team will develop stabilization alternatives; adapt, revise and evolve those plans to bring the project to bid. This project represents a substantial collaboration between the County and the City. While the County will act as owner, manager and day to day consultant contact, city staff will be involved in decision making.
