Summary of Specifications:
Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit Bids for the construction of a new sanitary sewer and lift station, rehabilitation and expansion of the Berry Terminal Parking Lot, installation of new power and fiber for the Green Lot Public Parking, installation of vault sump discharge piping and misc. concrete pavement repairs along the East Service Drive. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Airport Service Drive Utility and Road Repairs Project has been developed to provide utility and road improvements in the vicinity of the Airport’s East and West Service Drives, which are located at the north end of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) along the east and west sides of Rogell Drive. The project includes construction of a new sanitary sewer and lift (pumping) station that will facilitate future development, rehabilitation and expansion of the existing Berry Terminal Parking Lot, installation of new power and fiber for the Green Lot Public Parking areas, installation of sump pumps in Vault A & B including directional drilling for the installation of piping from the sump pump location to storm sewer manholes and misc. concrete pavement repairs along the East Service Drive. All work shall be performed in accordance with attachments C. In August 2002, the Public Airport Authority Act, MCL 259.108-259.125 (“Act 90”) transferred the operational jurisdiction of the airport from the County of Wayne, Michigan to the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority). The Airport Authority became responsible for the management and operation of the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW) and Willow Run (YIP) Airports, including the power to plan, promote, extend, maintain, acquire, purchase, construct, improve, repair, enlarge and operate both airports. The Airport Authority oversees the operation at DTW and YIP Airports including all parking, roadway, bridge, and other landside facilities. As one of the largest domestic and international airports in the United States, DTW has a major role in the future of southeast Michigan and the national airport system. YIP serves as a reliever airport, primarily serving cargo and general aviation activity.
