The Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) is requesting quotes for the purchase of compost hauling and disposal service and collection bins for a term of three (3) years, with two (2) one-year renewal options exercisable by the Airport Authority CEO.
The Airport Authority implemented a compost program in November 2017 to collect coffee grounds from participating concessions at the North Terminal, and expanded the program in 2018 to include coffee grounds and occasional food waste, yard waste, and paper products from the Berry Administration Building, Public Safety Building, and Maintenance Complex. In 2019, new concession locations are being built in the North Terminal and the Airport Authority is expanding the collection of compostable materials in its facilities. Collected materials will include a mixture of coffee grounds, food scraps, paper towels, Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI)-certified compostable service ware, and yard waste.
