Summary of Specifications:
Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit Bids for the construction services to perform asphalt milling, stabilization of existing pavement using the Full Depth Reclamation process, concrete slab removal and replacement, asphalt overlay paving, site utility structure reconstruction and adjustments, new LED lighting installation and bus shelter modification work at the Green Parking Lot at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). This RFB includes Technical Specifications (Attachment C) and Construction Documents (Attachment D) that identify technical requirements of the project. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Airport Authority operates the Green Parking Lot at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport for use by the general public as a pay lot. This project will improve the conditions of the existing parking lot and functionality of the bus pickup system. In August 2002, the Public Airport Authority Act, MCL 259.108-259.125 (“Act 90”) transferred the operational jurisdiction of the airport from the County of Wayne, Michigan to the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority). The Airport Authority became responsible for the management and operation of the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW) and Willow Run (YIP) Airports, including the power to plan, promote, extend, maintain, acquire, purchase, construct, improve, repair, enlarge and operate both airports. The Airport Authority oversees the operation at DTW and YIP Airports including all parking, roadway, bridge, and other landside facilities. As one of the largest domestic and international airports in the United States, DTW has a major role in the future of southeast Michigan and the national airport system.
