RFB-160341 - Dredge Stormwater Detention Pond 6

Summary of Specifications:
INTRODUCTION: Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit Bids to provide dredging services to remove sediment and vegetation from Stormwater Detention Pond 6 at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. GENERAL INFORMATION: Stormwater Detention Pond 6 at DTW was constructed in 1977. The surface area of Pond 6 is approximately 65 acres and the design capacity of the pond is 221 million-gallons. The design depth of the pond is approximately ten feet. Pond 6 receives stormwater runoff from the western and southern areas of DTW via a network of stormsewers that drain to three pumpstations that lift water into the pond during runoff events. 

Over the past 18 years, a layer of sediment has built-up on the bottom of the pond and cattail/phragmite growth has developed in the west portion of the pond; both of these processes have reduced the available storage capacity of the pond. Consequently, it is desired to remove as much sediment and vegetation growth as possible to return the pond to its original design capacity and bottom profile. 

Storage of dried spoils may be possible at the spoils lay-down area and/or at another DTW area located within two (2) miles of Pond 6. If dried spoils cannot be stored at a DTW location, they must be disposed of properly at a landfill approved for such disposal.
