Bids are being solicited for the purchase of hot mix asphalt on an as-needed basis for Detroit Metro and Willow Run Airports. The contract will be for a term of one (1) year.
INTRODUCTION: Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit Bids for Hot Mix Asphalt for the Wayne County Airport Authority, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Willow Run Airport.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Hot mix asphalt is purchased for the repair and preventative maintenance of runways, taxiways, ramp areas and public roadways at Detroit Metro and Willow Run Airports. On average, the Airport Authority uses approximately 4,200 tons of asphalt per paving season (April through November). The material will be picked up and hauled by Airport Authority personnel in Airport Authority owned equipment (5 and 10 yard dump trucks, 4 yard hot box and/or sub-contracted haulers).
Bidders whose location is in excess of a ten miles from each Airport location (Detroit Metro and Willow Run) will have a 2% per mile distance factor added to their total bid amount solely for the purpose of evaluating bids. This factor is being used to allow the Airport Authority to factor in its additional labor costs associated with traveling the additional distance to pick up the product. The contract award shall be based upon the lowest Responsive and Responsible total bid amount for Group A – Detroit Metro Airport and Group B – Willow Run Airport. The Airport Authority anticipates that multiple contracts will be awarded to multiple successful Bidders (Contractors).
