The proposed project is for the rehabilitation of the existing Bad Route Rest Area to provide ADA, general maintenance improvements, and installation of a new wastewater treatment system. The work will include renovation of the existing bathrooms in the main building to include replacement of flooring, wall coverings, fixtures, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The project also includes improvements to the project site including renovation of the existing picnic shelters, removal and replacement of the existing sidewalks with ADA compliant sidewalks, resurfacing of the septic tank pumper access road, storm water improvements to the south side of the truck parking area including an inlet and storm water ditch to convey storm water around the wastewater drain fields, and replacement of the irrigation pump and a new pump building on top of the irrigation vault. The project will also remove the existing septic tanks and abandon the existing subsurface drain fields in place and replace the system with a new 10,000-gallon precast concrete septic tank, dosing manhole and pumps, and new zoned pressure dosed drain field system.
