The addition will be wood frame construction with a truss roof. The main addition will be 45’x92’ and it will connect to the existing Public Works building at the southerly end and extend easterly toward the salt shed. There will also be a 20’x32’ ell (bay 3) at the easterly end of the new building, extending and facing the rear (south), to provide extra length for bay 2. The ceiling height in bay 2 will be 18’ in the main space and lower in the 20’x32’ (bay 3) space. The ceiling height in the remaining addition (bay 1) will be +/- 14’. There will be a fire rated wall and door between bay 1 and bay 2. Windows, there will be 3, approx. 2’x4’ along the rear (south) wall, bay 2 and 2, 2’x4’ along the rear wall, bay 3. Renovate the existing office including removing the current exterior door and window and repairing the rot on the existing wall, or if necessary, replace the wall entirely. Installation of a new 3’0 x 6’8 solid core door between the office and the new break room. That door will be located under the stairway in the new break room. Construct a new break room in the existing building in the bay south of the office. Remove the existing overhead door and install a new entrance door and window. Cut a new 6’ wide opening in the masonry wall to access the adjacent bay (bay 4). The existing door to bay 4 will remain. The southerly 10’ end of the existing building will be demolished to accommodate the addition. A new wood frame, fire rated, wall with labeled door, will be constructed at the new end of the existing building. That wall will be the bearing wall for the roof of the addition. There will be 3, possibly 4, 30’ span roof trusses that could probably be salvaged for another use. The wall between bay 1 and bay 2 will be a fire rated wall with 1, 3’0x6’8 label door and jamb, and a 16’x12’ opening with fire rated sliding or roll-up doors. Roof: • The roof design will be a mono pitch truss for both sections of the addition (45’ span) that will direct water and snow to the rear of the building. There will also be an additional roof (stick frame or truss) to extend the drip line 8’ on the door side (northerly side) of the building. The 20’x32’ ell roof will be trusses to continue the roof pitch from the main roof. The main roof (bay 2) as well as the ell roof trusses (bay 3) will bear on a support beam between bay 2&3. • The roofing material will be metal to match as close as practical to the existing Public Works building. • The roof joining the existing building to the addition will need to be stick framed to meet the new roof...
