The Newark Board of Education seeks proposals from qualified and highly motivated firms to assist with the continued professional development and expansion of our student mentoring program. Currently, there are nine (9) NBOE high schools with more than 300 students that have received services from mentoring programs involving school-based staff, local organizations and businesses. Within a twelve-month period we seek to expand services to at least fifteen (15) high schools to services over 1,000 students. The landscape analysis survey provided by the District, will be utilized by the awarded contractor to identify best practices and gaps of mentoring programs in high schools to plan and scale initiatives. The proposed models must use evidence-based practices grounded in research and comply with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act/Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA/ESSA). The program shall focus on positive relationships through formal or informal mentoring in school and in after school environments, in-person and virtually. The program shall ensure mentors support positive youth development, academic outcomes, and holistically support the whole student.
