Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor shall supply all personnel, equipment, and necessary apparatus to perform the requirements of work detailed in these specifications including, but not limited to, personnel, snow blowers, snow shovels, calcium chloride, repairs, insurance, and supervision as required. Heavy equipment such as skid steers or small loaders are not permissible. The contractor shall not receive compensation for those hours during which equipment or personnel fail to work due to mechanical problems or absence of work crew. Contractor shall provide the Township Director of Neighborhood Services or his designee with the name and phone number for a company representative that can be reached twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days a week during the snow season. Contractor will begin clearing walkways and sidewalks within 90 minutes of being so directed by the designated Township representative. At no time will the Contractor begin operations prior to receiving authorization from the Township Department of Neighborhood Services. Verbal notification shall include leaving a message on the contractor’s designated phone, at which time the response clock will begin. The contractor will acknowledge receipt of the message and provide an estimated start time. The Contractor shall be liable for any damage to Township property including curbing, signs, and mailboxes that arise out of or in connection with the performance of the work. Any damage incurred should be immediately reported to the Department of Neighborhood Services designee. Contractor is responsible for clearing snow from all entranceways, sidewalks, and steps at specific facilities. The Contractor will be responsible for application of de-icing material once the snow has been removed from the walkways. Ice melt will be used as needed. To prevent damage to Township facilities concrete and red brick walkways, Rock salt will not be used on any surfaces that are cleared by the contractor. Upon award of work, Contractor shall supply the Township with a Business Registration Certificate and Certificate of Insurance naming the Township of Medford as an additional insured.
